On October 21, President Serzh Sargsyan conducted a regular two-day visit to the defense line of our country and the Republic of Nagorno Karabakh.
Accompanied by the President of NKR Bako Sahakian, RA Minister of Defense Seyran Ohanian and representatives of the highest military ranks, President Serzh Sargsyan visited the defense positions, observed first hand the combat readiness of the troops and army building activities.
President Sargsyan also participated at the inaugural ceremony of a new apartment building for the officers of Artsakh defense army and conversed with the members of their families. Later, he made a tour of a renovated, state of the art artillery technical maintenance and servicing point.
Later same day in Stepanakert, President Serzh Sargsyan invited a traditional meeting with the participation of the military ranks.

China supplies FC-1 multipurpose fighters to Azerbaijan

China intends to supply FC-1 multipurpose fighters to Azerbaijan, Izvestia daily reads Nov.19 referring to the information that design was made with the assistance of Russian Aircraft Corporation “MiG”.

According to the source, the contract for FC-1 production was signed by Rosoboronexport with the approval of Russian Federal Service of Military-Technical Cooperation (FSMTC). Zimbabwe is also among the potential buyers, whereas Beijing intends to launch a serial manufacturing of the fighters in Pakistan.

Azeri Military Expert Uzeir Jafarov confirmed the information and added, “As far as I know, negotiations were held and our country intends to buy the hardware from China. Thus, I deem our defense ministry plans to purchase the equipment from the PRC.”

Meanwhile, the expert was puzzled with potential possibility of Chinese equipment purchase – which he considers is not widely used.

As per Chinese and Pakistani experts, up to 800 fighters might be sold. FSMTC seems to be comfortable about it, intending to supply China with 100 engines for FC-1, Izvestia says.

Rouslan Pukhov, Russian defense analyst and director of the Centre for Analysis of Strategies and Technologies, declared that without Russian engines there cannot be any major export of Chinese fighters. “It’s another matter that China might act in its own way. They can sign a contract with us assuring the engines are intended for them, however resell them further, thus causing a direct damage to us,” Pukhov underlined.

Statements such as the one below have been coming out in rapid succession in the past two weeks. It seems official Yerevan is confident in the cards it holds, and it should be since the Great Powers have essentially shunned the turkish/azeri demands for Armenian concessions.

Sarkisian Warns Azerbaijan On Armenian Army Day

YEREVAN (Combined Sources)–In a thinly veiled warning to Azerbaijan, President Serzh Sarkisian said on Thursday that a military assault on Armenia and Nagorno-Karabakh would trigger “serious counterattacks” with strong elements of surprise.

Sarkisian and his leading political opponents praised the Armenian Armed Forces as the country marked the 18th anniversary of their official establishment. They visited the Yerablur military cemetery in Yerevan to pay their respects to Armenians killed in the 1991-1994 Karabakh liberation struggle.

“Today the Armenian army is the iron guarantee that ensures our survival and development and is a sobering deterrent against any hot-headed adventure,” Sarkisian said in a written address to the nation dedicated to what is a public holiday called Army Day.

“The author of any provocation must definitely expect serious counterattacks and big surprises from the Armenian army,” he said. “Failure to realize that is at least naivety.”

Defense Minister Seyran Ohanian, who is a prominent war veteran, issued a similar warning earlier this week. He said Armenian forces have significantly beefed up defense fortifications around Karabakh in recent years and are prepared for renewed fighting regularly threatened by Azerbaijan.

Sarkisian visited Yerablur together with other Armenian leaders to lay a wreath at the tomb of Armenia’s first defense minister, the late Vazgen Sarkisian. He also used the occasion to decorate and promote several senior army officers.

“Today you are awarded for your achievements, and it’s thanks to your achievements that our country becomes stronger both politically and psychologically,” he said during the award ceremony. “With these awards our country and people express their appreciation and gratitude to those, who devotedly serve the Republic of Armenia, who have devoted their lives to the mission of defending and maintaining peace in our country.”

In his written remarks, Sarkisian had underscored the army’s pivotal role in maintaining the balance of peace in the region. “The prevention of war is the greatest victory for any normal country that respects the rights of nations and states, and the Armenian officers and soldiers are doing it effectively,” he said.

Prime Minister, Tigran Sargsyan, echoed the president’s sentiments. “Each of us is visiting Yerablur with pride because we have a victorious army,” he said. “We must do everything to have a strong army that is a reliable guarantor of the security of our state and the Armenian people.”

“The borders of our Motherland are peaceful today, and our people create their free life in Armenia and Artsakh thanks to the devoted service of our brave soldiers and commanders,” he said, praising the army as the “pride of our people.”

His Holiness Karekin I, Catholicos of All Armenians, issued his own statement on the occasion, blessing “the officers and soldiers of the Armenian Armed Forces and all Armenians throughout the world on the occasion of Army Day.”

“We ask the Almighty to grant success to the brave and amiable officers and soldiers in their service to our country,” Echmiadzin said. “May the Lord bless and strengthen our army, grant peace and reconciliation to our native land and to all the Armenians throughout the world."

Կասեցվել է սահմանի խախտման հերթական փորձը
Օրեր առաջ արձանագրվեց Հայաստանի սահմանը խախտելու ադրբեջանական կողմի հերթական դեպքը: Դիվերսիոն հետախուզական խումբը, որը Հայաստանի տարածք էր ներխուժել հետախուզական գործունեություն ծավալելու, տեղեկություններ հայթայթելու նպատակով, վնասազերծվել է: Ի դեպ, նմանատիպ խմբերը պարբերաբար զբաղվել են նաև անասնագողությամբ:

Մարտի 3-ին, ժամը 01:30-ի սահմաններում Տավուշի մարզի Կոթի գյուղի տարածքում ՀՀ զինծառայողների կողմից բացահայտվել է Ադրբեջանի տարածքից ներթափանցած, քաղաքացիական հագուստով և դիվերսիոն խմբին հատուկ սպառազինությամբ հանդերձավորված 5 հոգուց բաղկացած խումբ:
Գնահատելով իրավիճակը` մեր զինծառայողները նախազգուշական կրակ են բացել: Սկսվել է փոխհրաձգություն, ինչի հետևանքով հակառակորդի դիվերսիոն խմբի անդամներից մեկը վիրավորվել է և գերեվարվել: Վերջինս հիվանդանոց տեղափոխելու ճանապարհին մահացել է:
Երկրորդ վիրավորված զինյալը և խմբի մնացած անդամները մթության պայմաններում կարողացել են փախչել Ադրբեջան:

Իրականացված միջոցառումների արդյունքում ստացված օպերատիվ տեղեկությունները հաստատում են, որ ադրբեջանական կողմը պատրաստվում էր Հայաստանի տարածք ուղարկել ևս մի քանի հետախուզական խմբեր: Դրանց հնարավոր գործունեությունը խափանելու նպատակով ՀՀ ԶՈՒ հատուկ ստորաբաժանումների կողմից կազմակերպվել էր սահմանի տվյալ հատվածի պահպանության լրացուցիչ միջոցառումներ:

Նույն օրը ավելի ուշ, ժամը 21-ի սահմաններում, Կոթի գյուղի մոտակայքում նկատվում է Ադրբեջանից ներթափանցած օպտիկական նշանառության սարքերով, ինքնաձիգներով զինված և սև գույնի քողարկիչ համազգեստով հանդերձավորված 3 հոգուց բաղկացած ևս մեկ խումբ, որը շարժվում է դեպի մոտակա անտառը:

Դեպքերի վերլուծությունը ցույց է տալիս, որ այդ խումբը գործել է թիկունքից ապահովող մեկ այլ խմբի կրակային աջակցությամբ: Հայկական կողմի ձեռնարկած գործողությունների արդյունքում ադրբեջանցի զինյալները, կորուստներ կրելով, նահանջել են` չեզոք գոտում թողնելով երկու դիակ: Սպանված ադրբեջանցիներից մեկի դիակը մարտի 5-ի առավոտյան ժամը 6-ի սահմաններում չեզոք գոտուց տեղափոխվել է ՀՀ տարածք:

Ընդհանուր առմամբ, մարտի 3-ին ձեռնարկված միջոցառումների արդյունքում սպանվել է Ադրբեջանի տարածքից ներթափանցած 3 զինյալ, որոնցից 2-ի դիակները գտնվում են Հայաստանում: Վիրավորվել է մեկ անձ` Իբրահիմ անունով, ում հաջողվել է հասնել Ադրբեջանի տարածք:

Օպերատիվ ճանապարհով ճշտվել են նաև ադրբեջանական զինյալներից ևս մի քանիսի անունները` Վելիև Վալի, Նամազով Սագիֆ` Կյոսալար գյուղից, ոմն Նիզամի և Խագանի:

Հայկական կողմում գտնվող 2 դիակներից մեկի` Հասանի բջջային հեռախոսի մեջ կան տարբեր տեսագրություններ` նահատակ-շահիդի թաղման արարողության, Ղազախի ներքին զորքերի ստորաբաժանումների հատուկ պատրաստության և ազանների` կրոնական արարողության, վերաբերյալ: Հասանի բջջային հեռախոսում կային նաև լուսանկարներ, որոնք, ըստ երևույթին, նրա հարազատներն են:

Չի բացառվում, որ սպանված սահմանախախտները վահաբականության` ծայրահեղ արմատական իսլամիստական կազմակերպության ներկայացուցիչներ էին: Նրանց մոտ հայտնաբերված անձնական իրերն ու մարմնի տարբեր մասերում առկա դաջվածքները հիմք են տալիս ենթադրելու, որ նրանք առնչություն են ունեցել Ադրբեջանի հատուկ ծառայությունների հետ և անցել են հատուկ պատրաստություն:
