SINGAPORE: Chinese Defence Minister Liang Guanglie called Sunday for "democracy in international relations" and added that the countries should have regard for each other’s overall interest and reservations.

Addressing Asia security Conference, Shangrila dialogue here, Chinese Defence Minister, Liang Guanglie said that China wants peace and stability in South Chinese Sea.

He said that peace and stability could only prove possible with democracy in international relations and respect for each other’s overall interest.

It may be recalled that the Chinese defence minister has for the fist time participated in such forum.

Chinese defence minister Friday had held a meeting with the U.S. Defence Minister, Robert Gates for improving the bilateral military ties.
