HEC forms Policy for Business Administration Education

The National Curriculum Revision Committee in Business Administration, Higher Education Commission (HEC) has prepared a roadmap for streamlining Business Administration Education in a two-day meeting held at NWFP Agricultural University Peshawar.

The meeting was chaired by Dr. Mukhtar Ahmad, Member (O&P) Higher Education Commission which after detailed deliberations decided to review the existing duration and credit hours in practice of Bachelors and Masters degree in Business Administration.

It was decided that MBA degree will be of 30-36 credit hours duration after 4-year Bachelors degree(16 years education) in Business Administration. A roadmap was also decided for people desirous of joining MBA from other streams of studies like BA/BSc, BE/BSc Engineering, MBBS, MCom etc. MBA degree earned after this will be equivalent to conventional MPhil degree.

Award of two year MBA after 14 year schooling will be discontinued. No new admission under this programme will be offered after the Academic Session 2008.

It was further decided that MBA Executive will also be of two years duration with credit hours ranging from 90-96. One Year MBA Executive programme after 14 years education will be equated to Post Graduate Diploma. MBA Executive Programme will be aimed for professionals and people in service.

Over 25 Deans, chairpersons and professors in Business Administration from leading public and private sector universities of the country offering the subject participated in the meeting. They also recommended the establishment of a Centre of Excellence in Business Administration at a central location to cater to MS and PhD training.
