“Communication”
Learning Objectives:
1. To make students aware about the emerging trends of e-communication at work place
2. To make them analyze the situation rationally & pick the most appropriate option

There is no second thought on the importance of communication. The means of communicating electronically has been widely observed in almost every organizational setup. No matter whether it comes to communicating internally or externally, more & more organizations are becoming timely, efficient and effective by using e-communication on daily basis that is changing the entire culture of today’s organizations. Employees now use Skype, Facebook, LinkedIn, Twitter & many other social sites for communicating the whole day long with their internal as well as external network. At the same time when organizations are welcoming e-communication, many are still not comfortable with the open access of social sites at work place. The open use of social sites has been a big reason to reduce intra-organizational face to face interaction among employees. In many organizations it has been recognized that the excessive use of social sites & gadgets is reducing physical social circle, promoting a culture in which human’s only relation left is with the machine. Individuals form up an organization’s culture, the reducing face to face interaction can bring about a big change in dealings of employees.

Idea about e-communication

Your campaigns are directed by specialists in your market segment - not one-size-fits-all. We understand our customers and their needs, which let us, help you respond quickly to market trends and economic cycles.
ECA offers perfectly timed and executed campaign launches that are summarized with prompt and detailed reporting so that you can analyze your results and incorporate these results in your business strategies and future marketing programs.
The Internet and electronic communications (also called computer mediated communications, or CMC) doesn't just mean new tools for communication; it means new ways to communicate. Today your organization interacts with its various constituents differently - employees, board members, customers, partners and others - depending upon the nature of the message, the goals you are trying to achieve and the strengths (and weaknesses) of the available media - telephones, voice mail, fax machines, print, etc.
Electronic communications adds a powerful new channel that not only will change how you use this mix of options, but it will create entirely new ways to interact. For example:

  • Electronic communications lets you combine numerous media - text, graphics sound, video, etc. - into a single message. That can result in far more meaningful communications tailored to the nature of your particular audience. In contrast to broadcasting, narrowcasting reflects the ability to develop numerous communications for subsets of your market or constituencies.

  • Electronic communications is interactive. It engages audiences in active, two-way communications. That requires a new way of thinking about advertising copy and the handling of public relations. The pay-off, however, is a self-selected audience, engaged and actively participating in the communications process.

first of all itz importance

Electronic communication has become more important to workplace collaboration in the early 21st century. Expansion of globalization and more spread out distribution of work team members have made it useful in sharing information and communicating on projects. The Internet, email, social media and virtual team "rooms" are common tools used for electronic workplace collaboration.
secondly:

Email, virtual team rooms and other basic interactive tools provided by the Internet were among the first drivers of dispersed work teams. These tools allow companies to have employees collaborate on projects economically, even when they are located in different parts of the world. Retailers, for instance, are able to maintain greater cross-market brand consistency by enabling managers across the chain to communicate on a regular basis through email, intranets and electronic forums. Electronic communication also enables employees to maintain an ongoing dialogue to share ideas, even when they can't meet at the same time. In a forum, for instance, employees can offer ongoing input on a new product development
