PPP core committee meeting held

ISLAMABAD: Some federal ministers and senior leadership of Pakistan People's Party (PPP) in a meeting said that they will stand by the prime minister in adopting a stance that is correct, respectful and constitutional.

The meeting held on Monday night in the Presidency was chaired by Co-Chairman PPP President Asif Ali and Prime Minister Syed Yusuf Raza Gilani.

Those who were present during the meeting included Faryal Talpur, Senator Nayyar Hussain Bokhari, Makhdoom Amin Fahim, Chaudhry Ahmed Mukhtar, Senator A. Rehman Malik, Mir Hazar KhanBijrani, Mian Manzoor Ahmad Wattoo, Syed Khursheed Ahmed Shah, Makhdoom Shahabuddin, Syed Naveed Qamar, Senator Dr Babar Awan, Senator Mian Raza Rabbani, Senator Jahangir Badar, Senator Faisal Raza Abidi, Senator Sardar Ali Khan, Nazar Muhammad Gondal, QamarZaman Kaira, Raja Pervaiz Ashraf, Rana Muhammad Farooq Saeed Khan, Rukhsana Bangash, Fouzia Habib, Mehreen Anwar Raja and Spokesperson to the President Farhatullah Babar.

Briefing about the meeting, Farhatullah Babar said that the meeting reviewed in-depth the current situation and discussed ways and means of overcoming the challenges faced by the party and the government.

The spokesperson said that the meeting lauded the announcement made by the Prime Minister Syed Yusuf Raza Gilani on the floor of the House to appear before the honorable Supreme Court in response to the notice on Thursday, January 19.

The meeting also appreciated the support extended to the leaders of the government and the party by all coalition partners and thanked them for it.

The meeting reiterated confidence in the leadership of Co-Chairman President Asif Ali Zardari and Prime Minister Syed Yusuf Raza Gilani. (APP)
