Re: Champions League 20:20 2011
M. A. Chidambaram Stadium
The M. A. Chidambaram Stadium is a cricket stadium in Chennai (formerly Madras), India, named after M. A. Chidambaram, the former President of BCCI and the Tamil Nadu Cricket Association. The stadium was formerly known as Madras Cricket Club Ground or Chepauk Stadium. Commonly known as Chepauk, its first match was played 10 February 1934. Built by the East Coast Constructions and Industries, this stadium is where the Indian cricket team won its first ever Test victory in 1952 against England. Sunil Gavaskar notched up his record breaking 30th Test hundred on this ground in 1983-84. The India-Australia encounter in 1986-87 ended in a tie - only the second in the game's long history. The next season, leg spinner Narendra Hirwani claimed the best match analysis by a player on Test debut, finishing with 16 for 136. The Chepauk crowd is known to be amongst the most appreciative in the country. This was proved when those present gave a standing ovation to Saeed Anwar after his record breaking 194 against India in the Independence Cup match in 1997 and again when Pakistan won a Test match in 1999. A truly overwhelmed Pakistani team even made a lap of honour in appreciation of the spectators' sporting behaviour. It is the home ground of the Tamil Nadu cricket team and also for the Chennai Super Kings which participate and often win in the Indian Premier League.

The M. Chinnaswamy Stadium (Kannada: ಚಿನ್ನಸ್ವಾಮಿ ಕ್ರೀಡಾಂಗಣ, Chinnasvāmi Krīḍāngaṇa), located in Bangalore, Karnataka, is one of the cricket stadiums of India. Flanked by the picturesque Cubbon Park, Queen's Road, Cubbon and uptown MG Road, this four decade old stadium is situated in the heart of the city of Bangalore. Formerly known as the Karnataka State Cricket Association (KSCA) stadium, the ground was later rechristened in tribute to Mr. M. Chinnaswamy, who had served the KSCA for four decades and was also president of the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) from 1977-1980. This stadium with a seating capacity of 55,000 not only regularly hosts Test cricket, One Day Internationals (ODI) and other First-class cricket matches, but also other musical and cultural events. The stadium is also the home ground of the Karnataka state cricket team and the Indian Premier League franchise Royal Challengers Bangalore. It is owned by the Government of Karnataka and has been leased out to the KSCA for a period of 99 years.
Eden Gardens
Eden Gardens (Bengali: ইডেন গার্ডেন্স) is a cricket ground in Kolkata (previously called Calcutta), India. Re: Champions League 20:20 2011
Auckland Aces came agonisingly close but saw victory slip through its fingers.
Needing four to win off the last ball, a single was all Kyle Mills could muster, as the Kiwi side capitulated by three runs in its Nokia Champions League Pool B qualifier against the Kolkata Knight Riders at the Rajiv Gandhi Stadium on Monday night.
Aces recouped through Lou Vincent's belligerent 40 after losing its first wicket for no score. Greeting Iqbal Abdulla with a lofted golf shot over long-on, he had some special treatment in store for Jaidev Unadkat. Feasting on three boundaries on the trot, the long-haired Aucklander drove the hapless left-arm mediumpacer out of the attack.
The scores:
Kolkata Knight Riders: M. Bisla c Guptill b Bates 45 (32b, 7x4, 1x6), J. Kallis c Quiney b Mills 33 (35b, 4x4), Yusuf b Adams 12 (17b, 1x4), M. Goswami (not out) 8 (7b); Extras (lb-4, w-1): 5; Total (for six wkts. in 20 overs): 121.
Fall of wickets: 1-73, 2-93, 3-93, 4-95, 5-98, 6-106.

Re: Champions League 20:20 2011
The Claypso charm came just in time from the gifted Darren Bravo and Sherwin Ganga who helped Trinidad & Tobago score a five-wicket win over Ruhunu (Sri Lanka) in the Champions League T-20 Pool-B qualifying round match at Rajiv Gandhi Stadium here on Monday.

Chasing 139, the top-order crumbled thanks to some reckless stroke-play and it was 81 for five at one stage as the slow bowlers Janaka Gunaratne and Sanath Jayasuriya operating on a relatively slow pitch checked the flow of runs. Captain Daren Ganga too flattered to deceive as he was trapped lbw by the wily Jayasuriya.

It was finally left to the flamboyance of Bravo (44 not out, 49 balls, 1x4, 1x6) and Sherwin Ganga (39 not out, 15 balls, 4x4, 2x6), who put on match-winning stand of 63 for the sixth wicket off just 32 balls to clinch the issue.
To his credit, Sherwin Ganga left behind more famous partner in essaying some wonderful big hits. Quite aptly, his huge six off the expensive Arosh Janoda was the winning shot.
Earlier, a listless batting display saw Ruhunu (Sri Lanka) bowled out for 138 in 20 overs. With the exception of 21-year-old Dinesh Chandimal (50, 48 balls, 2x4, 2x6) none of the batsmen stayed long enough to test the not-so intimidating bowling of Trinidad & Tobago.
T & T started with the a leg-spinner Samuel Badree and to the delight of captain Darren Ganga, he trapped the danger-man Jayasuriya lbw, playing a reverse-sweep.

Re: Champions League 20:20 2011
Trinidad & Tobago (T&T) came up with a brilliant, all-round performance to become the first team to qualify for the main draw, after a convincing 51-run win over Leicestershire Foxes in the Champions League T20 Pool ‘B' qualifying round match, at the Rajiv Gandhi Stadium here on Tuesday.
It was a pity that such a professional display came in front of near-empty stands, with only a few hundred fans applauding the Trinidadians who recorded their second consecutive win here.
Early blows
The combination of leg-spinner Samuel Badree, who opened the bowling once again, and fast bowler Ravi Rampaul was too hot to handle. The 30-year-old Badree, who has never played for West Indies, struck the first blow cleaning up Andrew McDonald and then Will Jefferson, while at the other end Rampaul induced opener Josh Cobb and Wayne White to go for big strokes and throw their wickets away. Rampaul picked two more in the final over for a four-wicket haul.
Leicestershire was never really in the game once it was reduced to 20 for five in 5.4 overs. Only James Taylor enjoyed batting on an easy paced pitch as most of his teammates paid the penalty for going for the big strokes without actually settling down.
The scores:
Trinidad & Tobago: L. Simmons c Henderson b Gurney 67 (58b, 7 x 4), A. Barath c White b Gurney 62 (47b, 6 x 4, 2 x 6), D. Bravo (not out) 18 (9b, 2 x 6), D. Ramdin (not out) 11 (7b, 1 x 4); Extras (b-2, lb-1, w-6, nb-1): 10; Total (for two wkts. in 20 overs): 168.
Fall of wickets: 1-139, 2-139.
Leicestershire Foxes bowling: Hoggard 3-0-20-0, Gurney 4-0-33-2, Razzaq 4-0-33-0, Henderson 4-0-33-0, McDonald 3-0-25-0, White 2-0-21-0.
Leicestershire Foxes: J. Cobb c Simmons b Rampaul 9 (6b, 2 x4), A. McDonald b Badree 0 (3b), W. Jefferson b Badree 6 (11b), W. White b Rampaul 0 (7b), J. Taylor (not out) 56 (47b, 4 x 4, 2 x 6), P. Gurney (not out) 0 (2b); Extras: (lb-8, w-3, nb-1): 12; Total: (for nine wkts. in 20 overs): 117.
Fall of wickets: 1-5, 2-9, 3-16, 4-17, 5-20, 6-67, 7-70, 8-117, 9-117.
Trinidad & Tobago bowling: Badree 4-1-7-2, Rampaul 4-0-14-4, Narine 4-0-18-2, Sherwin Ganga 3-0-30-0, Cooper 4-0-24-1, Simmons 1-0-16-0.

Re: Champions League 20:20 2011
The third edition of the Champions League Twenty20 is going to commence from 23rd September to 9th October 2011. This much-awaited cricket tournament will be held in India.
The well-known mobile phone company, Nokia, has been named the new title sponsor of the Champions League Twenty20 tournament replacing Bharti Airtel. So, in the title it will be shown the “Nokia Champions League Twenty20 2011”.
Nokia also announced the ‘Nokia Ke Asli Champions’ campaign. As per information available given on net, the winners will get an opportunity to be part of Indian actress Priyanka Chopra’s ‘Champion team’ and will watch the final match live with her.
Sundar Raman, CEO of Indian Premier League and Champions League T20, on his Twitter account confirmed about Nokia’s sign up as the title sponsor of the Champions League Twenty20.
With $40 million, Bharti Airtel bought the sponsorship for three years, but after two years they ended their three-year deal quoting low viewership.
ESPN STAR Sports has the legal right to broadcast all the matches live around the world. They supposedly paid one billion dollar for 10-year media rights for the tournament. They will telecast this tournament in more than 174 countries and it will be telecast in a record 18 international languages around the globe.
STAR Cricket and STAR Cricket HD will broadcast all the 29 matches, including qualifying matches, live in India. On the other hand, ESPN will just broadcast all 23 matches of the main tournament with Hindi commentary.
Cricket crazy fans can also enjoy live audio commentary in both English and Hindi in the online page of ESPNStar.com.
Indian actor, Shahrukh Khan, has caught media attention after being unveiled as the face of the tournament by ESPN STAR Sports (ESS). He seems very much happy for this honor. However, Shahrukh Khan’s Kolkata Knight Riders is now competing in the qualifying stage. If they can end the qualifying round as one of the top three ranked team then they can play in the main tournament.
This cash-rich tournament will be played between 10 teams. Out of 10 teams, 7 teams have already been selected. They are defending champion Chennai Super Kings, Royal Challengers Bangalore and Mumbai Indians from India, New South Wales Blues and Southern Redbacks from Australia and Cape Cobras and Warriors from South Africa.
The remaining three teams will be selected through a qualifying tournament. Six teams from the Caribbean, New Zealand, India, England and Sri Lanka will be divided into two groups. Out of six teams, only top three teams, winner from each group and the third highest point holder, will be able to play in the main tournament.
This is going to be a tough challenge for defending champion Chennai Super Kings. No doubt, they will try hard to hold their trophy once again. Fans will be eagerly waiting to see if Mahendra Singh Dhoni can lead his team successfully to get the trophy consecutively. There is a question if any Indian team can keep the trophy in their own soil as India will host this prestigious event. The teams that will participate in the qualifying round are Auckland Aces, Kolkata Knight Riders, Trinidad and Tobago, Ruhuna Rhinos, Leicestershire Foxes, and Somerset.
This 15-day event will kick off with the match between Royal Challengers Bangalore and Warriors on September 23, 2011 at the M.Chinnaswamy Stadium, Bangalore. It is scheduled to start at 20:00 local time.
Teams will face against each other in a round robin league. Among them, only top four teams will be able to compete in the semi-final round. Two winnings teams from semi-final round will compete in the final round for the prestigious trophy.

The Australian outback is home to the Redback spider, known to be dangerous for its neurotoxins and as a member of the dreaded widow family. If habitats have a bearing on humans, little wonder then that the red-dotted web crawler lurks on the jersey backs of the South Australian Redbacks.
Strangely, the said squad showed few traces of its iconic insect's venom, surrendering meekly in a 50-run defeat to the Warriors on Sunday. Callum Ferguson dismissed that debacle as a one-off thing.
“After losing those early wickets, it was difficult to rebuild the momentum,” the Redbacks' vice-captain said. On the virtual absence of the fightback that the Aussies were famous for and the failed run chase, he said, “We were not quite in rhythm with the bat.”
If the greater hunger to succeed favours a side when hazarding a prediction, the scales should tilt towards a younger and fitter Redbacks, if not its keenness to make a mark in its first Nokia Champions League campaign.

Re: Champions League 20:20 2011
The M. Chinnaswamy Stadium bore witness to yet another last-ball finish as Mumbai Indians notched up the narrowest of victories for a second time in the Champions League T20.
The side may have been granted special dispensation to field five foreigners in the competition, but it was Andhra's Ambati Rayudu who is owed a large part of the credit for the one-wicket win over Trinidad & Tobago; his unruffled 36 (47b, 3x4) averted an otherwise certain defeat. Ravi Rampaul's fiery bowling effort (4-0-17-3) which earned him the Man-of-the Match award and Samuel Badree's parsimony (4-0-14-1) nearly helped their side pull off a remarkable win but the night was to end in heartbreak for the islanders.
After a half-decent start, Trinidad & Tobago had lurched to 98 after losing eight wickets for 41 runs in a space of 9.3 overs.
In pursuit, 11 runs were required off Sherwin Ganga's final over with Lasith Malinga and Rayudu at the crease; the former's six off the second ball was sandwiched by two singles. Both batsmen were, however, run out off the next two balls, Rayudu dismissed attempting a second run off the penultimate delivery. With two needed off the final ball, all three results appeared likely but the field had been pushed back and Yuzvendra Chahal managed two knocking the ball to the legside — he could still have been run out, but Adrian Barath's throw was not perfect and Denesh Ramdin could not hit the stumps.
The scores:
Trinidad & Tobago: L. Simmons run out 21 (18b, 2x4, 1x6), A. Barath b Malinga 11 (8b, 2x4), D. Bravo b Harbhajan 18 (15b, 2x6), D. Ganga c Sathish b Franklin 5 (8b), D. Narine c Chahal b Abu Nechim 11 (9b, 1x4), S. Badree (not out) 0 (2b), Extras (w-7) 7; Total (in 16.2 overs) 98.
Fall of wickets: 1-21, 2-41, 3-57, 4-57, 5-64, 6-78, 7-83, 8-83, 9-95.
Mumbai Indians bowling: Malinga 4-0-22-2, Nechim 2.2-0-17-1, Chahal 1-0-13-0, Harbhajan 4-0-22-3, Franklin 3-0-15-1, Pollard 2-0-9-1.
Mumbai Indians: T. Suman c S. Ganga b Rampaul 10 (13b, 1x4), A. Blizzard c Simmons b Badree 2 (7b), A. Rayudu run out 36 (47b, 3x4), J. Franklin c Badree b Rampaul 0 (2b), A. Fall of wickets: 1-11, 2-13, 3-14, 4-16, 5-33, 6-65, 7-75, 8-96, 9-97.
Trinidad & Tobago bowling: Badree 4-0-14-1, Rampaul 4-0-17-3, Cooper 4-0-27-0, Narine 4-0-10-2, S. Ganga 4-0-31-0.

Re: Champions League 20:20 2011
Champions League T20 action shifts to the M.A. Chidambaram Stadium here with a doubleheader scheduled for Wednesday. Teams coming off defeats — New South Wales Blues and Trinidad and Tobago — collide in the day game, followed by the showcase evening face-off between Chennai Super Kings and Cape Cobras.
Having surrendered its prolonged winning streak on home turf to a loss against Mumbai Indians this past week, Super Kings will be keen to register its first points in the tournament. The pattern of batting first and letting spin and a vociferous crowd support overwhelm the opposition looked good to go against Mumbai, before Malinga's freakish cameo knocked the host out.
Clark had starred for NSW in its victorious 2009 CLT20 campaign with nine wickets in six games at an economy rate of 4.90.
“He's obviously a very experienced bowler and he was a good part of our campaign here in 2009 when he played a pretty key role. I'm sure if the selectors see it fit to bring him back in for this next game tomorrow, they will do so,” said all-rounder Steve Smith.
Trinidad and Tobago, apparently, was still reeling under the after-effects of its last-ball loss to Mumbai in Bangalore.
“It's very disappointing to have lost that game, but the boys are still pumped. Since the wicket at Chepauk is a bit slow, it should favour us.
“Hopefully we can restrict NSW to 120-140 and chase it down,” said wicket-keeper Denesh Ramdin, who contributed to the loss to Mumbai with a golden duck and a botched relay-throw to the stumps on the last ball of the match.

Propelled by Callum Ferguson's unconquered 70, the South Australian Redbacks piled up an imposing 188 and restricted the Kolkata Knight Riders' response to 169 for nine at the Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium on Tuesday night.
The calm confidence shown by the Antipodean side's vice-captain on the contest's eve wasn't far-fetched as he led by example, cutting the Knight Riders' attack to ribbons in a 40-ball essay, embellished with four big hits and four boundaries, which wrenched the contest away from the Kolkata squad.
The Redbacks chose to bat, replacing Shaun Tait and Adil Rashid with Gary Putland and Kane Richardson against the unchanged Knight Riders. Openers Michale Klinger and Daniel Harris seemed well on their way until birthday boy L. Balaji brought about the breakthrough. The India discard squeezed out a miscued hit from Harris, which was duly held by Iqbal Abdulla trotting to mid-off.
South Australian Redbacks: M. Klinger (run out) 20 (18b, 2x4), D. Harris c Abdulla b Balaji 26 (19b, 2x4, 2x6), C. Ferguson (not out) 70 (40b, 5x4, 4x6), C. Borgas c Balaji b Yusuf 14 (13b, 2x4), D. Over the past few days in which Lewis Hamilton revved up his hot wheels in Bangalore, the Champions League too cranked up excitement here at the Chinnaswamy Stadium thanks to two matches that twisted and turned towards last-ball finishes. Warriors and Mumbai Indians scraped through, while Royal Challengers Bangalore and Trinidad and Tobago clutched dismay.
Royal Challengers Bangalore and Kolkata Knight Riders would rather prefer a game easy on the nerves as the two teams gear up for a Thursday night Group B face-off.
RCB lost its opening fixture to Warriors and KKR failed to get past Somerset and South Australia at Hyderabad and the rivals badly need a victory to revive their campaigns.
