Haqqani is US-made commander: Iftikhar

PESHAWAR: Khyber Pakhtoonkhwa Information Minister Mian Iftikhar Hussain Monday said Pakistan wanted better relations with all the countries including the US, Geo News reported.

Giving briefing to the media following the KP cabinet meeting, Mian Iftikhar declared Sirajuddin Haqqani 'a US-made commander' and that hurling allegations would instead of resolving the issues make them even more complicated.

APP adds: The Khyber Pakthunkhwa Government decided to abolish the management cadre in Elementary Education Department after it failed to produce desired results.

Addressing a news-conference after attending the 40th meeting of Khyber Pakthunkhwa cabinet with Ameer Haider Khan in chair, the Information Minister Mian Iftikhar Hussain said that a high-level committee under his chairmanship was formed to suggest ways and means to address this issue.

The Management Cadre of Elementary and Secondary Education Department has been separated by government under cabinet decision on January 27, 2007 and formulated its rules on May 4, 2009. The Provincial Government has recruited 427 persons for 593 vacancies on the recommendations of Khyber Pakthunkhwa Public Service Commission.

However, it was felt that Management Cadre was not producing the wanted and desired results and should be abolished. He said the government principally decided to abolish the Management Cadre in the national interest of people.

The Minister said the cabinet also directed improvement in Pakistan Forest Institute established in 1947 to prepare and trained students in field of forestry and termed it an asset of the province.

A high level committed under chairmanship of Additional Secretary was working on formation of its organizational structure and was declared as an attached department of Ministry of Environment KPK. He said 2500 master and bachelor degree holders have obtained degrees from PFI.

Regarding National Internship Programme NIP, the Minister said that it was a federal subject and Federal Government has been requested for provision of funds for this project to provide pay to internees. He said that 17190 degree holders of Khyber Pakthunkhwa were facilitated from this programme besides 27332 under Malakand Special Programme.
