SANAA: Yemen's President Ali Abdullah Saleh was killed on Friday after an attack on the presidential palace, Suhail, a TV station run by the country's opposition, reported.

The presidential palace was hit by shells earlier on Friday during fighting between Saleh's forces and a powerful tribal federation.

While a security official said that Saleh was wounded along with his premier and other officials as shells struck a mosque in the presidential palace compound.
