KARACHI: The Austocross Car Race 2011 was held in which 35 racers including female drivers participated here on Saturday.

The Karachi Autocross is the only event of motor sports at grass-root level in the country in which contest takes place in four different categories.

Drivers say that the motor sports talent will come out in the country only after the racing contest takes place at grass-root level.

Women drivers also participated side by side with men in the Karachi Autocross but the centre of attraction was Urooj Mumtaz, former captain of the Pakistan women cricket team.
