QUETTA: Petrol has become a rare commodity in Quetta as consumers are running from pillar to post in search of this most sought-after fossil fuel, but to no avail.
Secretary Petroleum Dealers Association Malik Afzal Awan told Geo News that security restraints on the highways of Balochistan have hit the fuel supply very bad, causing this dearth.
Long, but agitated queues of vehicles can be seen at the petrol pumps.
On the other hand the price of petrol bootlegged into Pakistan from Iran -- sold at various mini-pumps throughout the city-- has been jacked up as well. A liter of this Iranian petrol is being sold for Rs100.
Consumers at large are not far from losing their patience, an enraged motorcyclist told Geo News. If the government doesn’t step in to put us out of our misery people will take to protest and go as far as they can, he added.
