KARACHI: Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) once again brushed aside the allegations leveled by former Sindh home minister Dr. Zulfiqar Mirza, terming them as completely baseless and false, Geo News reported.
Flanked by MQM members Nasreen Jalil, Dr. Sagheer Ahmed and others, Syed Mustafa Kamal addressed a press conference held here to air the party's reply against the grave allegations leveled by Dr. Mirza on August 28 against MQM and its Chief Altaf Hussain.
"This kind of allegations are not new for MQM which had been stigmatized in the past with false accusations of Jinnahpur," Kamal repulsed, adding the generals who had maligned MQM with the allegations of breaking up Pakistan had been proven wrong.
Terming Dr. Mirza's allegations as totally ridiculous, he said 'MQM understands that the letter written to the former British prime minister Tony Blair is fake'. If Zulfiqar Mirza has evidences he must go to court, he added.
The former Karachi mayor, Syed Mustafa Kamal said a conspiracy was being hatched against the MQM which is aimed mainly at character assassination of MQM and its Chief (Altaf Hussain).
“Our silence should not be mistaken for weakness,” Kamal said, adding that MQM wanted to see a prosperous Pakistan.
Kamal requested the Chief Justice of Pakistan to launch a probe into the arms licenses issued by Zulfiqar Mirza as the latter had confessed on media. "He (Zulfiqar Mirza) had been at work to build a Lashkar to dismember Pakistan."
He said that Ajmal Pahari's confessions were extracted through application of force.
Mustafa Kamal said MQM could not be eliminated through conspiracies and that plots to push 'Muhajirs' against the wall must be stopped forthwith.
