COAS Kayani cancels UK visit

LONDON: Chief of Army Staff (COAS) General Ashfaq Parvez Kiyani has canceled his visit to the UK where he was expected to meet Defense Minister Liam Fox.
According to Britain’s Ministry of Defense COAS Kayani had cancelled his visit but the ministry did not speculate as to why the visit was scrapped.
It is being speculated that the visit may have been cancelled so General Kayani could hold talks on the crisis sparked by US accusations against Pakistan.
Last week, the chairman of the US Joint Chiefs of Staff, Adm. Mike Mullen accused the ISI of having backed the Haqqani network in the planning and execution of an attack on the US embassy in Kabul.
General Kayani dismissed these allegations as baseless. (AP)
