NEW YORK: The chances of getting bowel cancer doubles when someone has a desk job for 10 years, according to a study.

Current working patterns are highlighted by these findings throwing light into people who work at a desk for hours together. The chances of getting prostate cancer among men who spend more hours in front of a computer sitting is about 30 per cent more as compared to men who are active.

The chances of getting bowel cancer doubles when someone has a desk job for 10 years. Researchers also stated that this happens despite going to a gym on a regular basis to remain active.

Also people who do not work out at all have more chances of getting a tumor in the distal colons.

Every year bowel cancer causes 16,000 deaths and the number of cases diagnosed is over 37,500. It was also stated that rectum cancer’s risk increased by 44 per cent among people who spend most of the time sitting down and working.
