SYDNEY: Play resumed after a rain delay on the opening day of the fifth Ashes Test between Australia and England at the Sydney Cricket Ground on Monday.

Australia were 111 for two with debutant Usman Khawaja on 26 and acting captain Michael Clarke on four.

The umpires said play would be extended on Monday to make up for the shortfall.
