The Good Things That Last.
As-Salaam alaikum,
In Ayat 46 of Surat Kahfi of the Holy Qur'an, Allahu Subhanahu Wa Ta'ala says:--
"Wealth and children are the embellishment of worldly life, and
the good things that last (al-baqiyat-as-salihat) are greater with
your Lord and greater in expectation" (18:46)
--material things are short-lived and temporary but the "good things that last" will remain and endure forever. That is, their reward will continue into the hereafter, and the hereafter is far better and everlasting.
Now, what are "the good things that last"? The Prophet, Sallallahu alaihi Wasallam, told us what they are in the following Hadith:--
Abu Sa'id al-Khudri, may Allah be pleased with him, reported from the Messenger of Allah, Sallallahu alaihi Wasallam, that he said:- "Make plenty of the good things that last (al-baqiyat salihat). It was said: 'And what are they, O Messenger of Allah'?
He said: TAKBIR (Saying: ALLAHU AKBAR), TAHLIL (Saying: LA-ILAHA ILLALLAH), TAHMID (Saying: ALHAMDU-LILLAH) and Saying: LA-HAWLA WALA QUWATA ILLA BILLAH." [Bukhari, Muslim].
Also, the Prophet, Sallallahu alaihi Wasallam, said: "The most beloved words to Allah are 4: SUBHANALLAH; ALHAMDULILLAH; LA-ILAHA ILLALLAH; ALLAHU AKBAR. [Sahih Muslim].
May Allah, Azzah Wa Jallah, Bless us... by making us among his servants who always recite... engage in/with "the good things that last"..the al-baqiyat salihat... and the 4 most beloved words as in the above hadith... ameen.
