Proposal to Export further 0.2m Tons Sugar

KARACHI: Sugar Advisory Board (SAB) has submitted a proposal to the government to allow further 0.2 million tons of sugar to facilitate sugar mills improving their financial positions, Geo News reported.

Sugar Mills Association (SMA) said a SAB meeting was apprised of that only 0.109 million ton of sugar was exported as against the government permission of 0.3 million ton.

It is learnt that SAB will submit its proposal today to the Economic Co-ordination Committee (ECC) for further 0.2 million tons of sugar export. The proposal said that permission to SMA for further export of sugar would improve the financial positions of the mills and payments to sugarcane cultivators would ease in the next season.
