java can run un-trusted code in a "Sandbox",

what is the meaning of sandbox?

The JVM provides a SandBox environment, by Sandbox we mean an environment that very controlled and restricted. The code that runs inside this environment can not harm the host machine or other computer. In java JVM (Java Virtual Machine) provides the sandbox environment. If we have downloaded some java software from internet and are running it in JVM , if that program will try to harm the host machine , the JVM will not allow it.
