PM can sack Secretary Defence: PML-N

KARACHI: Pakistan Muslim League-N leader Khwaja Asif on Sunday said the Prime Minister had the right to fire Defence Secretary and that the Army functions under the Prime Minister, Geo News reported.

Talking to Geo News through telephone, Khwaja Asif said the position of Prime Minister had a sanctity but PM Gilani did not care much about preserving it. "The sanctity of the (PM's) position must remain intact."

He said his party was not in favor of army interference.

Khwaja Asif said Shahbaz Sharif had demanded PM's apology from the people.

"The defence secretary turns a blind eye to the rules and regulations when a prime minister gets handcuffed," he regretted.

PM and for that matter nobody is beyond the law. If he disregards and insults rulings of the apex court than he is leading others by example.
