ISLAMABAD: Federal Minister for Information and Broadcasting Dr Firdous Ashiq Awan on Thursday challenged the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) to give tough time to the government in the Parliament.
Addressing media persons outside the Parliament, the minister said the government of PPP and its allies enjoys majority in the National Assembly and the PML-N was unable to create problems for it in the House and holding sit-in and protest outside the Parliament was against the democratic norms.
She said Nawaz Sharif and Chaudhry Nisar have turned out to be what she termed “Dengue virus” for the democratic process and were creating problems instead of resolving problems at a time when the country was facing different challenges.
The minister alleged the PML (N) leadership was doing politics of negativity and confrontation which had united democratic forces, while the Pakistan People’s Party (PPP), she added, was promoting politics of reconciliation.
She said difference of opinion was beauty of democracy but the leaders, holding sit-in in front of Presidency, were creation of dictatorship and were reflection of negative mind-set.
Dr Firdous said the PML (N) was quickly going to political isolation as the AJK election proved and it was destined to meet the same fate in next elections in the country.
She said that the people of Pakistan were mature enough and they could not be deceived by politics of confrontation.
She said the PML (N) badly failed to improve its performance in the Punjab province, that was why it was holding protests and agitation to cover up.
The opposition should do politics of issues and within democratic norms to further strengthening and promoting democratic process in the country. She said all power projects were in final stages and the load-shedding would end soon.
Replying to a question, she said Zulfiqar Mirza’s statements were in his personal capacity and if any party had any evidence or proof, it should present them in the Parliament and the government would reply.
