Pak youth should contribute for US growth: Lee

HOUSTON: The chair of Pakistan caucus in US Congress Sheila Jackson Lee has said that Pakistani youth residing in America should fully contribute for the growth of US economy as this is the country of all of us.
She was addressing the Iftar dinner in honor of Muslim community hosted by Houston Mayor Annise Parker. Congresswoman Jackson said that she pray for those who are fighting for their freedom in Muslim countries, especially for Syrian people.
Addressing the gathering she said that every American no matter what race and color he is, loves America. She said that any discrimination based on faith should not be tolerated.
Congressman Al-Green while congratulating on Holy month of Ramadan reminded the gathering on Ramadan's teaching of patience and perseverance. He said that the whole world is in shackles of problems, we should use all of our skills for its welfare and resolution of these issues.
He said we would like to serve humanity by a peace power rather than a nuclear power. He said that Muslims should ignore bitter realities and start a new journey. Congressman Al-Green while talking to Geo TV correspondent praised the role of Geo TV in leading not only in Texas Pakistani community but Pakistanis throughout the world.
Earlier Houston Mayor Annise Parker said that this Iftar dinner is hosted by Houston Mayors for last ten years in order to bring communities closer. A former city council member and renown Pakistani American Mr. M.J. Khan while thanking the audience said that Muslim community is not far from any other in the development and welfare of American Society.
The event was jointly organized by Islamic Society of Greater Houston, Cair Houston and Sister Cities of Houston. and many community & religious organization's. Dr.Aziz Siddiqui President ISGH, Dr.Tarek Hussain President Cair Houston, Mr. Saeed Sheikh President Houston Karachi Sister City Association, Guest Speaker Mr.Usama Cannon & Dr. Mahmoud El-Gamal also addressed the gathering.
Michael Wolf's documentary Salaam Houston which has detailed report on Muslims in America was also screened. The event had Agha Khan Council volunteers and thirty other community organizations participation. Around 1,500 community members participated in this Iftar.
