Dengue fever: LHC says negligence will not be tolerated

LAHORE: The Lahore High Court (LHC) is hearing a case pertaining to the spread of the Dengue virus in Punjab, Geo News reported.

During Friday’s proceedings Chief Justice LHC, Justice Ijaz Ahmed Chaudhry remarked that corruption seemed to be involved in the purchase of Dengue vaccine and the court would not allow anyone to play with human lives.

The Chief Justice of the LHC said an example would be made of those behind the Dengue pandemic. He instructed DCO Lahore and Secretary Health Punjab to present a report by 23rd September as to what measures had been taken to control the spread of the virus.

The court was of the view that fumigation should have been conducted earlier in the year adding that either the insecticide was not purchased or the purchase was only shown on paper. During the proceedings, the counsel demanded murder charges against those responsible.
