SL openers set new WC partnership record

PALLEKELE: Sri Lanka's Upul Tharanga and Tillakaratne Dilshan set a new record for a first wicket partnership at the World Cup here at the Pallekele International Stadium on Thursday.
The duo sailed past the previous best of 194 made by Pakistan's Saeed Anwar and Wajahatullah Wasti against New Zealand in Manchester in the World Cup 1999.
Sri Lanka were put into bat by Zimbabwe in a game where victory for the co-hosts will guarantee a quarter-final place.
