Efforts afoot to boost value-added sector

ISLAMABAD: National Assembly's Standing Committee for Textiles has convened a high-level meeting to address the value-added sector’s long-standing issues, Geo News reported Friday.
A meeting in this regard was held in Islamabad under the chair of Haji Mohammad Akram Ansari, which was attended by the sector leaders.
They told the standing committee that sales-tax/custom duty rebates, rising cost of doing business, and deteriorating law & order situation are making it harder for the sector to maintain competitiveness and profitability.
Sector leaders warned that if these issues persisted they would very soon be out of business.
