FBR Chairman offers to resign

ISLAMABAD: FBR Chairman, Salman Siddique said Friday he had offered his resignation over the issue of wrong figures being recorded during last fiscal year’s tax collection, Geo News reported. He added that the government was yet to accept his resignation.

The FBR Chairman was speaking before the National Assembly’s standing committee on finance. Siddique said that that during the last fiscal year Rs36 billion was the target from the flood surcharge but only Rs8 billion were received.

He further added that during the last 2 ½ years, almost 24,000 NATO containers had gone missing which caused a loss of Rs50 billion in duty collection.
