GMT - 3 Hours HAZELNUT SHORTBREAD

Hazelnut Shortbread

1 cup butter, softened
1/2 cup sugar
2 tbsp maple syrup or honey
2 sp vanilla
2 cups flour
1 1/4 cups finely chopped hazelnuts
1/2 cup each white, red, green, yellow, and
       dark chocolate candy coating disks


In a large bowl, cream the butter and the sugar until light
and fluffy.  Add the syrup and the vanilla.  Beat in the flour
just until combined.  Fold in the nuts.  Shape into  1 1/2 inch
rolls  Wrap tightly in waxed paper.  Chill for 2 hours or until
firm.  Cut into 1/4 inch slices.  Place 2 inches apart onto
ungreased baking sheets.  Bake at 325 F.  for 14-16 minutes
or until the edges begin to brown.  Remove to wire racks to
cool.  In a separate microwave-safe bowls, melt the candy
coating disks.  Stir until smooth.  Drizzle over the cookies.
Let stand until set.   YIELD:  6 Dozen
