ISLAMABAD: Loadshedding duration did not reduce despite the claims by WAPDA authorities due to which the traders of various cities have given a call for strike Monday, Geo News reported.

Traders of Faisalabad, Gujranwala and Sargodha have announced a complete shutter down against the prolonged power outages today.

Ameer Jamaat-e-Islami Syed Munawwar Hasan while condemning the power outages in the country has demanded of the government to take effective steps to lessen their duration.

In a statement issued here on Sunday, he announced that Jamaat-e-Islami would fully support a strike against reckless loadshedding called by All Pakistan Traders Association. He warned the government that protests due to loadshedding and inflation would spread across the country, which would be difficult to control for the government.

“Twelve to 18 hours loadshedding in the province including Lahore and Faisalabad has made the life of people miserable. All economic activities have virtually come to a standstill worsening unemployment situation in the country. The situation is also bearing a bad impact on their health such as intolerance resulting in riots,” he said.

He regretted that people were staging protest demonstrations on streets and roads but the rulers were living a luxurious life having no sense of problems being faced by the poor.Syed Munawwar Hasan also condemned the act of firing and baton charging on protestors saying that the government had already made their life depressed by raising prices on daily commodities and POL products.

He said that the government seemed to put people into the Stone Age through its policies. He warned that if the rulers did not stop from oppressing people and mend its ways, people would burst out like a volcano and consequently they would lose their power.
