KARACHI: The Supreme Court Karachi Registry while hearing the case pertaining to police reports and the security situation in the city summoned the chief secretary, law secretary and finance secretary on Tuesday, Geo News reported.
During Monday's proceedings Justice Anwar Zaheer Jamali remarked that there was a shortage of public prosecutors in courts and those who were present were not trained.
Justice Sarmad Jalal Osmani remarked that why was it necessary to issue judicial orders to fill requirements of the judicial system.
Speaking on the state of the prosecution system, Justice Jamali said the system was being run on an ad-hoc basis which is why problems were being witnessed. Justice Jamali added that on several instances there was a judge, defence attorney and witnesses present but there was no prosecutor.
The two member bench asked IG Sindh about the report of the 25% cases which had been lodged. IG Sindh replied that they were being investigated again and more time was required.
The court adjourned hearing of the case till Tuesday.
