Parisians fancy Pakistani textiles

ISLAMABAD: Pakistani is currently showcasing its cotton fabrics and leather goods exhibitions in Paris.
Pakistani cotton fabrics are on display in Paris at Tex-world exhibition, said a message received here from Pakistan Embassy here in Paris.
The exhibition is held twice a year; in September and in February.
The 30th edition of the fair is being held from September 19-22, 2011 at Parc d'Expositions du Bourget.
Some 826 exhibitors are participating in the fair from countries all over the world including China, Thailand ,India , Hong Kong, Turkey and Bangladesh.
There is a substantial presence of Pakistani manufacturers/ exporters of denim / cotton fabrics in this event.
This year also there is a national pavilion under the aegis of TDAP. Fourteen companies are exhibiting in the Pakistan pavilion.
Twenty-five other Pakistani companies are also exhibiting their fabrics mostly denim and cotton fabrics for clothing.
Total thirty-nine Pakistani companies are participating in the show including Nishat Mills, Kohinoor, Saphire, Soorti, Rajby, Liberty, Baig spinning, S.M, Fabrics, Siddiquesons and Rajwani etc.
Commercial Section coordinated before and during the fair with the fair organizers to ensure effective participation of Pakistani exhibitors.
The response of French and other buyers was overwhelming. The visitors appreciated the quality of Pakistani fabrics.
This year, the Tex-world has introduced a new section called "Apparel Sourcing", where garments manufacturers mainly from Asian countries including India, China, Bangladesh and Pakistan are present. Buying directors from major chain stores of Europe and other countries visited the stalls to place their orders.
Ambassador of Pakistan to France Shafkat Saeed, accompanied by Press Counselor Tahir Khushnood and Commercial Counselor Surriya Butt visited the Pakistani pavilion and met the exhibitors. Meanwhile, the Pakistani leather products are on exhibition in Paris these days.
This is bi- annual feature of an International Fair which specializes in fashion and trends of leather products in Europe.
The fair will continue till September 22, 2010. This is the 23rd edition of the exhibition.
The event was launched in the year 2001 meant for professionals of the leather products field. More than 300 exhibitors from around 26 countries are participating.
A good number of Pakistani exhibitors, which are members of PTA, are participating in the fair. It has been sponsored by TDAP. The Commercial Sectionof the embassy of Pakistan in Paris is providing necessary support to the PTA for participation in the fair.
This includes reservation of space, construction of stands, transmission of funds, facilitation of exhibitors, provision of staff and recovery of TVA. The exhibitors were found satisfied with the response of the buyers. This, mainly, is a fair for skin and leather accessories.
Pakistani exhibitors are displaying leather garments, as well. The exhibitors have indicated their interest in continuing to participate in this exhibition. (APP)
