Consumer, kitchen items’ prices go skyrocketing

ISLAMABAD: Inflation rate during the week ending July 7, 2011 has been recorded at 16.65 percent, Geo News reported.
Federal Statistics Department released handout showed in the sensitive price index as compared to previous year prices of tomato rose by 65 percent, LPG 35 percent, while broken Basmati by 26 percent.
Besides, the prices of clothes washing soaps were seen rising by 28 percent, mutton by 21 percent, meat by 19 percent, while milk by about 22 percent.
According to the statistics, edible oil prices shot up by 32 percent, while in the international market raw palm oil rate during the current year was seen declined by 18 percent.
Moreover, petrol prices went up by about 23 percent, while diesel price was seen ballooning by 28 percent.
